I bet you’re an empty nester and you don’t even know it

The thing about empty nesters is that they are all different. There are parents whose kids have gone off to college, and there are grandparents who raised grandchildren. Now the kids have moved on, and there are divorced couples whose children have moved out and started lives elsewhere, widowed people who lost their spouse and no longer have anyone living with them at home, and caregivers whose loved one has passed away, the list goes on.

While we can all agree that these situations all involve some sort of loss (whether physical or emotional), each carries its unique challenges for the person left behind. We know this great life transformational shift is coming intellectually; however, truly grasping the emotional fallout in real-time is underestimated. It's easy to fall into a depressive state and wallow in loneliness after such an experience. Simply put, you’ve fallen out of energetic alignment with your authentic self.

If you're one of these empty nesters, don't despair! Take this time to get back in touch with yourself and rediscover your new identity as an individual. There are plenty of other adventures waiting for you down the road, even if you're unsure of what they may entail at the moment.

You’ve taken great care of others over the years. However, have you been practicing good self-care? The first step in moving from this painful phase is to assess how you’ve been caring for yourself and taking the time to enjoy a bit of self care.

Until next time,

Enjoy the Love
